CINEMA-31 : Greed makes the Fire Nation did not want to live side by side in peace with other nations. The only way to ensure the Fire Nation could be in power is to kill the Avatar who served as an equalizer of all the forces that exist on earth. That's why the Fire Nation and then trying to find the reincarnation of the Avatar is said to be born from the Air Nation.
Aang (Noah Ringer) was a little boy that was born from the air. Without realizing it was the reincarnation of Avatar Aang and therefore he would assume responsibility for the balance of the universe. For that reason, Aang can not live like other human beings. Aang must not have the worldly bonds like everyone else and therefore also Aang fled from the temple.

Presumably, The Last Airbender is intended as a step that would save the reputation of M Night Shyamalan who later dropped the course. On paper, The Last Airbender is indeed promising. How not, this film is lifted from the Nickelodeon animated film that is very popular. In addition, the director also put big names like Jackson Rathbone and Dev Patel in the cast list. Unfortunately it all seems still not enough to restore the prestige of M Night Shyamalan.
The first mistake is perhaps a matter of casting. All the main characters in this film is played by white actors and actresses while the animated version, this character is clearly Asian. Second, the manuscript made by M. Night Shyamalan does not seem to give enough room for the actors / actresses to develop their characters, or may actually be the director who failed to lead them to reach certain standards.
The dialogue between characters seemed stiff and contrived while the process of character formation as well as forced and did not go smoothly as in the case of Inception for example. In addition, CGI is used also feels less bite. No wonder if this movie until now only generates about U.S. $ 167 million have been disbursed capital but no less than U.S. $ 150 million. Had this film not made in a live-action version and will be retained in the format of animation, this film might have more opportunities.
